THE ESC PRESIDENT PAID A VISIT TO AZERBAIJAN

Mr. Vladimir Lisin, President of the European Shooting Confederation, paid a visit to Azerbaijan. In Baku, capital of the country, he was received by Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Azerbaijan Republic and President of the National Olympic Committee.

Special attention during the meeting was given to preparations for the 1st European Games to be held in Baku on June 12-28, 2015 and to the 2017 European Shooting Championship.  The ESC President thanked Mr. Ilham Aliyev for permanent support to development of the shooting sport in Azerbaijan and for creation of the brand new shooting centre in Baku that will host both - the 2015 European Games and the 2017 European Championship. Besides, Mr. Lisin pointed out the importance of organizing some test competitions after the construction of this shooting centre is completed in early spring of 2015. Mr. Vagif Akhundov, President of the Shooting Federation of the Azerbaijan Republic, also took part in the meeting.

After the meeting with the President of Azerbaijan the ESC President visited the site of the future shooting events. He examined all the facilities, discussed details of the construction with executives in charge of the works and expressed them certain concerns that should be taken in consideration before the completion of the shooting ranges.

From Baku the ESC President went to Gabala where the ISSF World Cup Final is currently taking place. There he met with Mr. Wilhelm Grill and Mr. Petros Kyritsis, the ESC TDs for the 1st European Games, as well as with Mr. Franz Schreiber, the ISSF Secretary General.

In Gabala Mr. Vladimir Lisin also took part in the award ceremony of the winners of the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men.
