The Baku Shooting Center has been officially opened

The Baku Shooting Center where the shooting competitions of the 1st European Games will take place has been officially opened. The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, his wife Mehriban Aliyeva, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of the European Games, and family members have attended the opening of this brand new facility in Bilajari, Baku. President Ilham Aliyev cut the ribbon symbolizing the official opening of the facility.

The Minister of Youth and Sport Azad Rahimov informed the Head of State of the center. He noted that the area of the complex was expanded to 19.6 hectares, that all buildings and facilities in the area of the Baku Shooting Center meet requirements of the ISSF and the ESC. The ESC Technical Delegate Wilhelm Grill was there and ready to comment on any specific shooting matter.

The 1st European Games will take place from 12 till 28 June 2015, while the Shooting finals will be held from June 16 till June 22. 330 athletes will dispute 19 sets of medals. 15 in traditional individual Olympic events and 4 in experimental mixed team events – two in Pistol and Rifle and two in Trap and Skeet – with teams composed of one man and one woman. One Quota Place for the Games of the XXXI Olympiad in Rio-de-Janeiro will be disputed in each of the 15 individual events.
