SHOOTING IS PART OF THE 2019 EUROPEAN GAMES IN MINSK

Shooting has been confirmed as part of the sports program of the 2nd European Games that will take place in Minsk, Belarus, in the end of June 2019. The basic participation agreement has been signed by the European Olympic Committees and the European Shooting Confederation.

The other 15 sports that are also on the program of those Games are athletics, archery, badminton, basketball 3x3, beach soccer, beach volleyball, boxing, canoe sprint, cycling, gymnastics, judo, karate, sambo, table tennis and wrestling. The competitions in eleven sports, including shooting, will serve as qualification events for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad 2020 in Tokyo.

Shooting was part of the program of the 1st European Games that took place in Baku, Azerbaijan, in 2015. All best European shooters participated in those competitions where 15 Quota Places - one in each individual event - were disputed for the Games of the XXXI Olympiad in Rio-de-Janeiro. Besides individual events, the program included also the Gender Mixed Team events in 10m Air Rifle, 10m Air Pistol, Trap and Skeet. Their format was created by the European Shooting Confederation and introduced in the official program of the international competitions for the first time in history. In 2017 three of those events have been proposed by the ISSF as part of the sports program of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in order to comply with the IOC requirements of gender equality.

The specific technical details of the shooting competitions at the 2nd European Games will be discussed after the IOC session in September.
