THE EUROPEAN SHOOTERS OBTAINED 40 OUT OF 64 OLYMPIC QUOTA PLACES DISPUTED AT THE 51st ISSF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

18 European countries have secured in Granada participation in the Shooting competitions at the Games of the XXXI Olympiad in Rio-de-Janeiro. 40 out of 64 Olympic Quota Places disputed at the 51st ISSF World Championship were won by the European athletes. Germany, Italy and Russia have got 5 Olympic Quota Places each, France and Slovakia - 3 each, Belarus, Great Britain, Norway, Spain, Serbia and Ukraine - 2 each, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary, Slovenia and Turkey - 1 each.

 

In 15 Olympic events that were in the program of the 51st ISSF World Championship the European shooters won five gold medals, 13 silver and nine bronze. The new World Champions are two athletes from Germany - Beate Gauss (50m Rifle 3 Positions Women) and Katrin Quooss (Trap women) as well as Petra Zublesing from Italy (10m AR Women), Eric Varga from Slovakia (Trap Men) and Alexander Zemlin from Russia (Skeet Men).


A huge success was achieved by the European Juniors. In 15 Olympic events they won 12 gold, 11 silver and 12 bronze medals. 9 gold medals, 6 silver and 6 bronze were won by Men Junior and 3 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze medals - by Women Junior.
