AUSTRIA, HUNGARY, CZECH REPUBLIC AND SWITZERLAND THE MOST SUCCESSFUL TEAMS IN PLZEN – CZECH REPUBLIC

The Czech Shooting Federation had kindly offered to organize the regional competition for the teams from Austria, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Italy, Slovenia and Switzerland during the weekend of 16-18 May 2014.

The qualification took place at the shooting range in Plzen. The Czech Shooting Federation, Petr Cernoch, the Chairman of Organizing Committee, and his team excellently prepared 20 SIUS electronic targets at the 10m hall for the young athletes from the West Region. Josef Veverka, a Member of Presidium of CSF, opened the competition during the opening ceremony on Friday evening.

The talented athletes offered spectacular and exiting competitions during the weekend (17 girls and 20 boys) with Austria winning all four rifle matches and Czech Republic winning all four pistol matches, a truly impressive performance. Placing second in the rifle competition was Hungary and in the pistol event the team from Switzerland came in second. Those four teams qualified for the EYL Final in Serbia during the first weekend of October 2014.

In rifle, the best series result was from Mariantonietta MORABITO (ITA) with 105.9, Nadine UNGERANK (AUT) shot many series more than 104.5 and in pistol Viktoria EGRI (HUN) shot 99.

Petr Cernoch organized a cultural visit of PILSNER URQUELL Brewery and the Pilzen Historical Underground. The teams were impressed by the process of bier production and were disappointed that they did not taste the excellent beverage due to their age under 18, the Coaches and Team Leaders had to follow the same rule.

The ESC and Josef Veverka thank all the participants for the fair and exiting conduct of the Qualification. We congratulate the successful athletes and coaches who now can prepare for the Final in Smederevo. We would also like to express our warm thanks and appreciation to the Czech Shooting Federation and the Organizing Committee in Pilzen.
