ATHLETES FROM 15 EUROPEAN COUNTRIES WON YOG QUOTA PLACES

Young athletes from 15 European countries won Quota Places for the II Youth Olympic Games to be held in the city of Nanjing, China, on 16-28 August, 2014.

24 Quota Places for the 2014 YOG - 6 in each of the four events: AR40, AP40, AR60 and AP60 - were disputed during the recent European Championship 10m which took place in Moscow.


There was fierce competition in each of the events: 42 participants in AR60, 43 in AP60, 60 in AR40 and 40 in AP40. The results were unpredictable till the very end. Finally, 4 Quota Places were won by the young athletes from Russia, 3 from Ukraine, 2 each from Armenia, Bulgaria, Croatia and Serbia and 1 Quota Place each was obtained by athletes from Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Romania and Turkey.


80 Quota Places in total are available for the 2014 YOG (20 in each of the four events). 54 of them are to be disputed during the Continental Qualification competitions, 24 will be decided by the IOC (Universality Places) and 2 will be granted to the host country.


The 2014 European Championship 10m in Moscow was the only Qualification competition for the young athletes from our continent.
