THE EUROPEAN SHOOTERS WON 43 OUT OF 57 MEDALS IN PERU
The European shooters once again were the most successful at the major international competitions. They won 43 out of 57 medals disputed during the 2013 ISSF World Shotgun Championship in Lima, Peru, including 13 out of 19 gold medals.
The Europeans won 4 out of 5 Olympic events. Jesper Hansen from Denmark was the best in Skeet Men, Christine Wenzel from Germany – in Skeet Women, Giovanni Pellielo and Jessica Rossi (both from Italy) – consequently in Trap Men and Trap Women.
In team events the Italian trios attributed the victory in Skeet Men, Skeet Women and Trap Women. Spain won the Trap Men competitions.
In the category of Juniors Jitka Peskova from the Czech Republic and Domenico Simeone from Italy were the winners in the individual Skeet events. In team competitions Italy won the gold in Skeet Men and Trap Women. The Czech Republic was the best in Trap Men.
Shooters from 11 European countries became medal winners in Peru. Italy got 17 medals, Russia – 10, Czech Republic – 5, Great Britain – 3, Croatia – 2, Denmark, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Norway and Sweden – 1 each.
The shooters from the USA won 8 medals including 4 – in Double Trap where Walton Eller was the winner in the individual Olympic event. The host country – Peru celebrated the two medals won in the category of juniors by Nicolas Pacheco Espinosa: gold in Trap and silver in Skeet. China finished the Championship with 2 medals, Japan and Australia – with 1 each.
