2025 European Shooting Championship in Châteauroux: A Midway Review

The 2025 European Shooting Championship in Châteauroux, France, has reached its midpoint, with 28 nations already securing medals.

In the 25m Pistol Women event, the winner is Miroslava Mincheva from Bulgaria, with Sylvia Steiner from Austria taking second place and Antoaneta Kostadinova from Bulgaria earning third.

In the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men event, the Gold medal was claimed by Florian Peter from Germany, with Silver going to Clement Bessaguet from France and Bronze awarded to Jean Quiquampoix, also from France.

In the Skeet Men event, the Gold medal was claimed by Ben Llewellin from Great Britain, Silver by Tammaro Cassandro from Italy, and Bronze by Mikola Milchev from Ukraine.

In Skeet Women, Lucie Anastassiou from France won the Gold, Amber Jo Rutter from Great Britain secured Silver, and the Bronze went to Valentina Umhoefer from Germany.

The best performance in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Duet event came from the Norwegian pair, Jon-Hermann Hegg and Jeanette Hegg Duestad, who claimed victory over the Silver medalists from Switzerland, Chiara Leone and Christoph Duerr. The Bronze medal was awarded to the Croatian pair, Miran Maricic and Marta Zeljkovic.

In the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Trio Women Final, Team Norway triumphed over Team Czechia, with Denmark taking the Bronze medal.

One of the most exciting and dramatic Finals saw Norway prevail over the Czech Republic in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Trio Men event, winning 16-14.

Norwegian shooter John Herman-Hegg shared his thoughts: "It was an exciting Final, and it was tight all the way. Of course, I was feeling some stress, but I just focused on my task and kept pushing forward. I think Duet and Trio are great events; they were intense, both in qualification (across both rounds) and in the Final. The short time frame adds more stress because you know you can’t afford to lose any points – the teams are really strong. The Finals are great for spectators to watch. I like that we have all three positions; it allows us to come up with tactics to win points. It's really exciting to watch, and it’s very cool. I really enjoyed it."
