ESC steps up EYOF 2027 preparations
The European Shooting Confederation team has visited Porpetto, Italy, to launch preparations for the European Olympic Youth Festival 2027.
Following the successful initiative to secure shooting sports a guaranteed place on the Festival's Programme, the Confederation continues to actively drive youth sports development across Europe. Alongside Air Rifle and Air Pistol, the festival will feature the historic debut of Shotgun disciplines.
Arriving at the invitation of the Organising Committee, ESC President Alexander Ratner, Secretary General Yahor Aleinik, Sport Director Elena Allen and Technical Committee Chairman Robert Ferenčak met with Executive Committee President Giorgio Brandolin and Sports Manager Anna Di Prophetis. During the visit, the delegation inspected the facilities in Porpetto to provide expert consultations and technical support.
“Developing youth sport is a vital mission that unites the Organising Committee, the Friuli Venezia Giulia region and the ESC,” commented Ms Di Prophetis, highlighting the shared vision between the hosts and the Confederation. “We are especially proud that shotgun disciplines will make their historic EYOF debut here, offering young athletes a unique opportunity to grow.”
She further noted her satisfaction with the joint efforts: “I’m pleased that together we found the right solutions to host competitions of this level in the best possible way. This strong cooperation is essential to delivering a successful and memorable event for all the young athletes.”
The 2027 Summer EYOF will build on the strong legacy of Lignano Sabbiadoro, which hosted the event in 2005. Highlighting the tournament's youth-driven spirit, the official mascot was recently unveiled – a lizard named Doro, symbolising rebirth, growth and resilience, perfectly mirroring the energy of young athletes.
In turn, ESC President Mr Ratner thanked the Festival’s Organising Committee for their active involvement in the preparations and their strong commitment to advancing youth sport across Europe.
