A medal avalanche: records fall on day one!

Yesterday, the spotlight was on the pistol and rifle athletes competing in Solo and Team events.

Boys and girls from both U16 and U18 categories showcased incredible skill, and by the end of the first medal ceremonies, a staggering 72 medals had already been awarded.

The first day wasn’t just about medals. It was about rewriting history. We witnessed an astonishing start when all three medalists in 10m Air Pistol Solo Men U16 event collectively broke the European Record during the qualification to enter the final, where the representative of Türkiye Ahmet Oğuz Sayar ultimately took the gold.

Before we could even catch our breath, Sofiia Kuzina (AIN) equaled the European Record in 10m Air Pistol Solo Women U18 event! But that’s not all! The records kept falling in the team events: the Serbian trio set a new European Record in 10m Air Rifle Women U18 Team. The Italian team matched this intensity, setting a record in 10m Air Rifle Men U18 Team event. The AIN athletes established a new record in 10m Air Rifle Women U16 Team event.
