ESC Presidium directs key strategic moves
The Presidium of the European Shooting Confederation gathered to clear a busy agenda, locking in important decisions on upcoming Championships, European Games qualifications, educational programmes, and international cooperation.
All qualification events for the 2027 European Games in Istanbul, Turkiye, are now officially approved. The final addition to the calendar before the main continental event is the 25m/50m tournament in Granada, Spain, which will award the last 80 quota places for rifle and pistol athletes.
One of the key items on the agenda was the competition calendar for the upcoming year. In a significant move, Granada will double its hosting duties, as the Presidium voted to relocate the 2027 European Championship 10m there. The exact dates of the event will be announced shortly.
Following extensive consultations, the Presidium approved the creation of a dedicated ESC Coaches Council to strengthen the sport's technical and educational foundation. It will recommend strategic directions for the ESC Education Programme, advise on coach development, and identify educational needs among Member Federations.
The newly formed Council is structured by discipline, with Rifle assigned to Anne Grethe Jeppesen (Norway) and Donald McIntosh (Great Britain), Pistol to Jelena Arunović (Serbia) and Mauro Badaracchi (Italy), and Shotgun to Malcolm Allen (Great Britain) and Pia Hansen (Sweden). They will operate under Chair of the Council Csaba Győrik (Hungary) and Secretary Diego Gasperini.
ESC Vice-President Nino Salukvadze has been appointed as the Presidium’s Supervisor for the Council to ensure smooth cooperation.
