In memory of Werner Hirt (1940–2026)

The European Shooting Confederation deeply regrets to announce the passing of Mr. Werner Hirt, ESC Honorary Member, on April 5, at the age of 86.

Werner Hirt was one of only a few people to receive the rare title of ESC Honorary Member – a recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Confederation. He worked alongside former Presidents and the most important leaders of the ESC, earning the trust and respect of all who had the privilege of working with him.

Throughout his long career, Mr. Hirt held key positions within the organisation, including serving as a Member of the ESC Presidium for twenty years (1993–2013). This honorary title was a tribute to his integrity and lifelong dedication to the sport. As an Honorary Member, he became an example of professionalism for future sports officials.

The ESC leadership and the entire European shooting community extend their deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

Rest in peace, Mr. Hirt. Your dedication to our sport will not be forgotten.
