Road to Istanbul 2027: Qualification System approved
The qualification system for shooting sports to the 2027 European Games in Istanbul, Türkiye, was approved by the ESC Presidium at its recent meeting in Frankfurt am Main.
Quota places for the European Games will be distributed through a series of designated ESC competitions in 2026 and 2027. Quotas will be contested at the 2026 European Championships in 10m in Yerevan, Armenia, 25/50m in Osijek, Croatia and Shotgun – Malakasa, Greece. In 2027, quota places will also be available at the 10m European Championship in Tallinn, Estonia, as well as at two European Qualification Tournaments for 25/50m and Shotgun, with host venues to be announced.
For individual Olympic events, one athlete may obtain only one quota place for their NOC. In total, 400 quota places are available for shooting sports, including host country and universality places. The qualification period runs from February 2026 until April 2027. The ESC will regularly publish updated information on quota allocation and ranking status on its official website.
The ESC Presidium also appointed Technical Delegates for the 2027 European Games Robert Ferenčak (SLO) will serve as Technical Delegate for Rifle and Pistol, while Emin Jafarov (AZE) will be responsible for Shotgun.
Preparation for the European Games will be coordinated by a dedicated commission composed of the Technical Delegates, ESC Presidium members Vessela Letcheva, Tomasz Kwiecień and Alexandros Dimakakos, as well as ESC Sports Director Elena Allen.
