Teenagers take center stage
The ESC initiative to establish European Championships for athletes under 16 and 18 years of age has found its evident support among the Member Federations.
Nearly 240 teenagers from 26 nations have been registered so far to compete in the first ever European Championships 10m that will take place in Tallinn, Estonia, on February 9-15, 2025.
Exactly 100 athletes have been entered in U-16 age category – 52 in Air Pistol and 48 in Air Rifle. The gender distribution is also very close: 51 boys and 49 girls.
In U-18 age category 75 athletes will take part in Air Pistol events and 63 in Air Rifle events. There will be more girls than boys: 72 and 66 respectively.
One month before the start of the Championship in both age categories the most contender competitions are expected in Air Pistol for boys and Air Rifle for girls. But the ESC registration system is still open and the numbers may change. Entries can be done at https://esc-entry.eu/.
Participation in this Championship will make – according to the EOC Rules - any athlete born in 2007 and 2008 eligible for the European Youth Olympic Festival in North Macedonia on July 19-27, 2025 where the shooting sport will make its debut.
The ESC sponsor is supporting participation of the young athletes by paying to the Organizing Committee all entry fees for Solo, Duet and Trio events.
