The 23rd general assembly took place in Belgrade

The 23rd European Shooting Confederation (ESC) General Assembly took place in Belgrade on the 30th of July 2011 right before the European Championships.

The 23rd European Shooting Confederation (ESC) General Assembly took place in Belgrade on the 30th of July 2011 right before the European Championships.

The ESC President Vladimir Lisin presented results of the last 2 years Confederation activities. He reported on the goals that were achieved and set the new ones for the near future. In particular Vladimir Lisin mentioned that the great work was done in order to raise the popularity and audience interest to the shooting sport.

The ESC President thanked national federations which hosted the European championships in the years 2010-2011. They were Norway Shooting Confederation, Russian Shooting Union and Italian Shooting Union. Vladimir Lisin considers new formats of competitions such as Duel and Top Gun to be successful. They were highly resonated by the shooting fans in Meraker (Norway), Kazan (Russia) and Brescia (Italy) at the European Championships.

The main difference of those championships is that they started to realize the idea of the shooting theatre. It made the competitions more interesting. The stands for spectators were placed closer to the shooters as a result of the new way of decoration the final hall. The culminations of the sport events were the awarding ceremony hold right after the final.

Mr.Lisin emphasized the importance of TV coverage at the championships. Without it the development of any sport is impossible. The practice of money prizes awarding of the champions and prize-winners of the European Championships was continued. In 2009-2011 439 shooters from the majority of ESC members- federations got money prizes of more than 350 000 euro in total.

Confederation pays great attention to the youth sport development, in particular European League. Vladimir Lisin informed the delegates about the achievements of the Confederation in the development of the shooting sport - in cooperation with SIUS (Switzerland) ESC developed absolutely new electronic targets, which are simple and can be easily installed and used nearly everywhere. Soon its mass production will start.

Among the main objectives of the ESC are - to form the permanent committee of atheletes, to launch new competitions under the ESC aegis - European Cup, European League, to create the development fund and to include shooting in the program of the European games which will took place in 2015.

During the ESC General Assembly the organizing committees representatives informed the

delegates about the preparation work to the Olympic Games 2012 in London, forthcoming European shotgun and rifle/pistol Championships (2011-2013), which will take place in Finland, Switzerland and Germany, Italy, Cyprus, Denmark.
