Double victory for Latvian athletes in Standard Pistol
The 25m Standard Pistol competition was as tight as yesterday’s Centre Fire Pistol competition. This time all medalists shot the same result, Silver and Gold medalist had the same number of inner tens, but the last series results solved the medal order.
Latvian Ernest Erbs was leading after the 150 sec and 20 sec series. French Yann Fridrici started his run too, but behind them game Latvian Rihards Zorge who passed both athletes and took the victory.
The victory was no easy while all the medalists shot 566 result. Zorge and Erbst had even the same number of inner tens. The deciding issue was the last 10 sec series: Zorge shot 93, Erbst 91 and Fridrici 91.
- I’m very happy for the victory, but sorry for my team mate who was leading nearly all the time. In the beginning I was somewhere on the 9th position, the on the 7th and when were shooting the shorter time series (20/10sec.) I was climbed up to the podium and the 10 sec series were my best and I could pass Erbst and Fridrici, explained happy Zorge.
French Fridrici lost Silver by the numer of inner tens, which was one less that Erbst made. Finish Marko Talvietie was fourth with result 565(11x), only one point behind Bronze medalist Fridrici.
The best team was naturally Latvia with result 1694 and they won France with the difference of five points (1659), bronze travelled to Finland with result 1650.
