Finals of dream, Finals on fire in Larnaca

One can hardly imagine better Medal Matches than those that took place in Larnaca!

Just to mention the names in Skeet Women Medal Match: 2016 Olympic Champion and 2019 World Champion Diana Bacosi from Italy, Tokyo 2020 World Ranking No 1, Bronze medalist of the 2021 European Championship Amber Hill from Great Britain, London 2012 Bronze medalist and two times European Champion Danka Barteková from Slovakia, place 5 in Tokyo Nadine Messerschmidt from Germany!

Nothing strange that 19 hits after 20 targets were not enough to access the podium. Diana Bacosi was left on the 4th place. Danka Barteková hit 27 targets out of 30 and won the Bronze medal. Only the last shot determined the winner — Amber Hill with 38 hits. Nadine Messerschmidt got Silver with 37 hits. Both – Hill and Messerschmidt — earned Paris 2024 Quota Places.

Not less impressive was the start list of the Medal Match in Skeet Men. Tokyo 2020 Silver medalist Jesper Hansen from Denmark, 2 times European Champion, winner of the 2022 World Cup in Lonato Luigi Lodde from Italy, 7th place in Tokyo 2020 and Silver medalist of the 2021 European Championship Jakub Tomeček from Czech Republic, winner of the most recent 2022 World Cup in Changwon, Bronze medalist of the 2019 European Championship Ben Llewellin from Great Britain.

Hansen was the first to leave the field of play. Bronze went to Llewellin. And the Gold medal was decided only after 9 rounds of doubles in shoot-off. Tomeček hit all 18 targets while Lodde missed his last one. Still, the efforts of the 42-year old Italian were compensated with a quota place for Paris 2024 Quota Place. The new European Champion got one as well.

Last detail. Athletes from 11 nations were among the finalists of the 2022 European Championship in Skeet Individual events.
