Gerhard Furnier, 1953-2024

It is with great sorrow we learned about passing away of Mr. Gerhard Furnier, Vice-President of the German Shooting Sport Federation (DSB).

His career as a sports leader started more than 40 years ago, first at the regional level and then at the level of Bavaria. In 1999 he became member of the DSB technical commission and in 2013 was elected the DSB Vice-President in charge of Sport.

Gerhard Furnier was indispensable as chairman of the organizing committees of many international shooting competitions held in Germany. In addition to the countless World Cups, Junior World Cups and Junior World Championships, the highlight of his career was the organization of the 50th ISSF Shooting World Championships in 2010 in Munich.

The European shooting community has lost one of the main experts in technical aspects of our sport, an outstanding worker and a true friend. He was only 70 years old...
