Participation record
A new record has been established before the 2024 European Championship Shotgun in Lonato del Garda has started! 442 athletes (790 starts) have been entered to compete so far from 42 European nations.
It is the highest number of participants in Trap and Skeet events in the history of European Championships Shotgun that reflects a remarkable development of the shooting sport on the continent.
The forthcoming competitions have a great importance and attract a lot of attention. The last four qualification quota places for European athletes to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in Shotgun – one in each individual event – are on stake. Added to 40 quotas already won by European athletes in previous qualifying competitions and other possibilities to obtain quotas according to the Qualification system (Qualification ranking for the Olympic Games, guaranteed host country quotas, Universality places), they signify that in Shotgun European athletes will constitute nearly half of those who will compete for Olympic medals in Châteauroux in two months.
Besides, the Championship in Lonato is a perfect opportunity for each nation to earn points for the European Champions League ranking. Till now, ten Teams are in the race in Trap with Türkiye, Spain, Italy, and the Czech Republic among the top four. In Skeet there are five Teams – Italy, France, Great Britain, the Czech Republic and Germany – contending for the right to qualify in the Final in Wrocław.
Finals of the 2024 European Championship Shotgun will be broadcasted by TV and streamed live on ESC digital platforms.
