Shooting is in the program of 2025 EYOF!
Following great success of the shooting competitions at the 3rd European Games in Poland a new achievement in the development of our sport on the continent has been secured.
During the 52nd General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) it was confirmed that shooting sport has been included in the program of the next European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) to be held in Skopje, capital of North Macedonia, in 2025. It will be the 18th edition of the EYOF and the first appearance of our young athletes in these prestigious competitions!
The ESC President Alexander Ratner who took part in the 52nd EOC GA has discussed the potential shooting sport program with Mr. Daniel Dimevski, President of the NOC of North Macedonia.
The ESC President has also had a constructive conversation with Mr. Xavier Espot Miró, Board Member of the NOC of Andorra, about the possible events in the program of the 2025 Games of the Small States of Europe.
Much attention has been paid by the ESC President in his meetings with the delegates of the 52nd EOC GA to guarantee the place of shooting among the core sports of the future European Games. Two main criteria set by the EOC are respected 100 percent since the 1st edition of the European Games in 2015. All best athletes take part in the competitions. The competitions are part of the Olympic qualification.
1988 Olympic Champion Nino Salukvadze from Georgia, who has set during the European Games in Poland a unique record in the history of the Olympic Movement by qualifying to the tenth Olympic Games in a row, and 2023 World Champion, IOC Member Danka Barteková from Slovakia, were invited to Istanbul to share with the participants of the 52nd EOC GA the athletes’ experiences and testimonials of participation in the 3rd European Games.
